Adventure Session FAQ

What makes the Grand Pend Oreille Adventure Session unique?

Grand Pend Oreille Weddings is the venue set apart for adding a touch of adventure to an incredible waterfront experience in many ways. One of which being that we are adjacent to over 350 acres of pristine wilderness dedicated to education and preservation via a community forest. Since this property was once part of the estate itself, we've been able to explore the land for over 15 years now and know some truly unique photo spots hidden away that you won't find anywhere else.

Who is an Adventure Session for?

Any physically fit couple who loves the outdoors and is looking to spend some time together searching for those truly unique 'adventure elopement' style photos.

What should we expect from an Adventure Session?

A once in a lifetime experience with incredible pinterest worthy photos you'll want to hang in every room of the house. You'll want to take some extra time at our Open House Events to scope out the trails and decide which photo spots you want. That will determine how much time you'll need to set aside on your wedding day. Couples will have time to get ready and do first looks at the venue. Typically you'll want to hit the trail around 1:30/2:00pm at the latest to be back for a quick break before the ceremony start time at 4:30/5pm. The length of time you'll need all depends on how many spots you fall in love with. We highly encourage you to come equipped with a wilderness first aid kit and bear spray in case any wildlife want to photobomb. The trails are mostly even but there are some rough spots. Fair warning: your dress may get dirty and stiletto heels will not be your friend ;)

What is the timeline of the day if we incorporate an Adventure Session?

  • 12:00pm-1:00pm: Beautification - just kidding, you're already beautiful!

    • Our Bridal Suite & Groom's Room are highly anticipating your arrival & preparation for the day.

  • 1:00pm-1:30pm: The great first look reveal - tears of joy - abundant happiness!

    • There are so many great spots at the venue for a first look - email our concierge for some cool ideas.

  • 1:30pm: Beep beep.... head to the trailhead

    • I can hear you thinking to yourself.... "But I thought it was just across the road?!"  It is, we're just trying to give you more time on the trail. It's about half a mile up the hill so technically, you could walk there but you might be pretty sweaty by the time you got to the top... the view is worth it either way!

  • 1:30pm-4:00pm-ish: Cherish every moment.

    • This moment is yours. This unique time exploring the natural landscape just before you say yes to forever symbolizes the start of a new chapter in your adventure together.

  • 4:00pm-ish - 5:00pm: Relax & refresh back at the venue.

    • When you return to the venue, take a stroll through the ceremony and receptions spaces to make sure everything is exactly how you want it. Or check in with your Wedding Coordinator to see how things are going. Retreat back to your wedding party ready rooms and reapply makeup, drink lots of water and relax as your guests start to arrive.

  • 5:00pm-9:30pm: For now and all eternity 'I-do'.

    • It's party time!

How does an Adventure Session work?

  • Step 1:Scope out the trails!

    • The community forest is open to the public, kind of like a park, so you can visit whenever you'd like. If you'd like direct routes to any of the photo spots you see in the gallery below please let us know!

  • Step 2: Hire an adventurous photographer.

    • When researching vendors, you'll want to ask if they're OK with hiking for the duration of your chosen duration before the ceremony. We wouldn't want your photography team to be wiped out by the time they get back to capture the main event.

  • Step 3: Choose your route.

    • Above you'll find three available routes to choose from. Each has a different levels of difficult but they all bring incredible natural landscapes to capture those unique photos you're looking for.

  • Step 4: Pack your bag.

    • Don't forget your hiking boots, water bottle & any other hiking essentials.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Great question! Being exposed to the elements on a trail can be dangerous in any circumstance but when you're in a beautiful gown prepped for your wedding it brings on a whole new level of risk. If rain or storms are expected, we highly encourage you to postpone your Adventure Session for another time. Because it is a community forest open to the public you could come back at a later date when the weather is more cooperative.

*It is the responsibility of the couple to learn the necessary skills for safe hiking, have the proper physical conditioning and bring the proper safety gear, including a good trail map, while hiking any trail. They are also encouraged to use sound judgment, be prepared and seek advice about trail conditions & wildlife before entering Indian Creek Community Forest. Grand Pend Oreille Weddings cannot be held liable for any accident, injury or damages that may occur. Participants will be entering at their own risk.*
