Adventure Session FAQ

What makes the Grand Pend Oreille Adventure Session unique?

Grand Pend Oreille Weddings is the venue set apart for adding a touch of adventure to an incredible waterfront experience in many ways. One of which being that we are adjacent to over 350 acres of pristine wilderness dedicated to education and preservation via a community forest. Since this property was once part of the estate itself, we've been able to explore the land for over 15 years now and know some truly unique photo spots hidden away that you won't find anywhere else.

Who is an Adventure Session for?

Any physically fit couple who loves the outdoors and is looking to spend some time together searching for those truly unique 'adventure elopement' style photos. For our adventurous families, we are able to accomodate children on parts of the East Loop as well. Our guides can host up to 5 people at a time, including your photography team.

What should we expect from an Adventure Session?

A once in a lifetime experience with incredible pinterest worthy photos you'll want to hang in every room of the house. After your first looks at the venue our Adventure Session guide will lead you at the trailhead, take you through the loop, pack in your water & belongings, even hold the bride's dress train up through any rough terrain. If you've booked the East to West Loop, your guide will even set up a picnic during your rest stop. They will be equipped with a wilderness first aid kit and bear spray in case any wildlife want to photobomb. The trails are mostly even but there are some rough spots. Fair warning: your dress may get dirty and stiletto heels will not be your friend ;)

What is the timeline of the day if we incorporate an Adventure Session?

  • 12:00pm-1:00pm: Beautification - just kidding, you're already beautiful!

    • Our Bridal Suite & Groom's Room are highly anticipating your arrival & preparation for the day.

  • 1:00pm-1:30pm: The great first look reveal - tears of joy - abundant happiness!

    • There are so many great spots at the venue for a first look - email our concierge for some cool ideas.

  • 1:30pm: Beep beep.... hop in your car and follow us to the trailhead.

    • I can hear you thinking to yourself.... "But I thought it was just across the road?!"  It is, we're just trying to give you more time on the trail. You could walk there if you wanted to, but you might be pretty sweaty by the time you got to the top of the hill.

  • 1:30pm-2:30/3:00/3:30/4:00pm-ish: Cherish every moment.

    • This moment is yours. This unique time exploring the natural landscape just before you say yes to forever symbolizes the start of a new chapter in your adventure together.

  • 2:30/3:00/3:30/4:00pm-ish - 5:00pm: Relax & refresh back at the venue.

    • When you return to the venue, take a stroll through the ceremony and receptions spaces to make sure everything is exactly how you want it. Or check in with your Wedding Coordinator to see how things are going. Retreat back to your wedding party ready rooms and reapply makeup, drink lots of water and relax as your guests start to arrive.

  • 5:00pm-9:30pm: For now and all eternity 'I-do'.

    • It's party time!

How does an Adventure Session work?

  • Step 1: Let us know you're in!

    • Send our concierge an email to add an Adventure Session to your wedding day and we'll get our hiking boots ready for an epic day.

  • Step 2: Hire an adventurous photographer.

    • When researching vendors, you'll want to ask if they're OK with hiking for the duration of your chosen loop before the ceremony. We wouldn't want your photography team to be wiped out by the time they get back to photograph the main event ;)

  • Step 3: Choose your route.

    • Above you'll find three available routes to choose from. Each has a different levels of difficult but they all bring incredible natural landscapes to capture those unique photos you're looking for.

  • Step 4: Pack your bag

    • Don't forget your hiking boots, water bottle & any other hiking essentials. If you've upgraded to the East to West Loop, we'll provide a picnic rest stop for you. We'll even bring some sparkling cider for you to enjoy by the sparkling creek.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Great question! Being exposed to the elements on a trail can be dangerous in any circumstance but when you're in a beautiful gown prepped for your wedding it brings on a whole new level of risk. If rain or storms are expected, we will have to cancel the Adventure Session for safety. The great news is though, because it is a community forest open to the public you could come back at a later date when the weather is more cooperative. If you've upgraded to the East to West loop and a cancelation does occur, you will be refunded and we may or may not share your picnic ;)
